Title: Tax Deductions for Living Donors
Post by: Wenchie58 on February 07, 2009, 10:27:06 AM
I don't know what different states do for living donors, but this is a statement copied from my New York State tax program.

Living Organ Donors
If during 2008 you were a living donor who donated one or more of your organs to another person for human organ transplantation, then include unreimbursed expenses incurred for travel, lodging, and lost wages, up to a maximum of $10,000.

You may claim this subtraction only once during your lifetime.

I had never noticed this before, but that might be because I never had a transplant before!

An earlier thread - with the same name - has info for all the different states that offer deductions, credits, leave time, etc.
