It ain't Christmas but Davita came up with gifts for us at my center.
An eyemask
Ear plugs.
Now I can no longer see them or hear them! How about that!
-
:rofl;
Now you need a nose clip and some numbing cream and you won't smell or feel them either!
-
Also I get to try the room with the beds for two weeks. Yippie, maybe I will sleep better. Bringing the big pillows tonight!
-
Kit, do you sleep there all night?
-
I am there 8 pm to 4a.m

Your pet name for Victor?
-
:rofl; :rofl; I wish!
-
you get to sleep in a bed
boy, are you lucky :o
-
Oh yeah. I sure am. With ear plugs and an eye mask! Whoop de doo!
-
I am there 8 pm to 4a.m
I know this has nothing to do with this post but anywho....
How do you like it? Can you sleep ? Do you mind driving home at 4am? How do you feel for the rest of the day? Do you find it long being there at 8pm? Is it 3 times a week also? :)

I like it. Benadryl and Tylenol are my best friend in helping me sleep. I average six hours most nights. Hubby is picking me up at 4a.m. I am spoiled. Three times a week MWF. Some nights when insomnia hits it is a hell of a long night, however most nights go pretty quick. I have become aquatinted with late night TV.
Now back to Davita gifts....
-
my unit will not do nocturnal and neither will any of the units close enough for me to go too
I would love to try it
especially if I could sleep in a hosptial bed
Kitkatz - you are living the life :cheer:

So, do you see the subliminal messages from Davita when you wear the mask yet? :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
The Davita blanket you sent me though is pretty good. It keeps me warm while sitting at my desk at night.

Yes, Benadryl is used as a calming agent as well as a sleepy agent in the center. Sometimes to get me through a four hour session I would use it. Now I use it as a sleep aide. Plus with the itching caused by various things related to dialysis Benadryl is our friend.

Well, at MY center, at at christmas time, the gave us some really nice U shaped neck pillows. The only thing is that they, when used as prescribed, it knocks my earphones out of whack, and gives me a neck ache . But it was a nice gesture. In turn I made "Texas Trash" (A HOT version of chex mix) and bottled it up in 12 equal containers, and brought one each for the 12 days of Christmas. Actually I don't know exactly when the 12 days of Christmas are, but about the first day of DEC. I brought one and brought one every treatment after 'til they were all gone. I gave the Pillow to my youngest Grand daughter. She loves it!
-
hmmmm, I love Texas Trash (not talking about my neighbors).
On my first nite at Davita Friday, they gave me a little bag filled with a blanket, the head pillow, a little squeezy toy and some padded headphones.
-
Hey, Dan,
That squeezy toy is for you to use to help your fistula mature. Squeeze it with your fistula arm several times a day and before you know it, you'll be stuck with needles, too. :clap;

But they said to wait two weeks. Do you agree with that? This scare looks like Freddy Kruger got hold of me. They didn't use stitches but glue... I guess it was Elmer's Glue.
If someone sends you a PM and there is no reply button, how do you respond?
-
Hi, Dan,
If they said to wait two weeks, then do that. My husband's fistula was some time back and he can't remember how soon they said to start squeezing the ball.
He got his fistula about 9 months before starting dialysis and stopped squeezing after a while. They gave him h*ll when it was time to start big D.
I guess if you don't have a way to reply to t PM you could just send one. hmmmm.

They had me exercising on the ball a couple days after the surgery, but they didn't leave one with me in my hospital room. They wanted me to do it during dialysis in the hospital, but I felt so bad after dialysis started, I didn't do it very much because I dozed off. But all doctors have their own way of doing things, so follow what he wants you to do Dan.

Two weeks sounds good - you don't want to skin the scar open!
If you don't like the looks of the scar, get some Mederma. It's a cream made with onion skin extract that reduces scarring if you apply it several times a day after the wound has healed. I did it with the scar on my neck from my parathyroid surgery, and that scar is a lot less noticeable than the ones from my graft surgeries that I didn't treat. I've still got a line there, but the redness went away a lot faster.
