Hello everyone, long time no chat. Took mom to neph appt yesterday. She is doing well. Her creatine is 2.9 and GFR went from 14 to 16%. He scheduled another appt for 3 months.
Next week she sees the orthopedic doctor about scheduling her knee replacement surgery. It is way past time to be done. Her leg turns inward and it is affecting her other joints by her compensating for it.
Her blood sugar is so much better since changing to short-acting insulin. There have been days where she hasn't needed insulin. She is finally back to her normal self and can actually handle being by herself. The women at her complex are so supportive.
When she had her gallbladder removed they also removed a hernia by her belly button. I don't think I mentioned that before.
I am busy working on my final paper which is about access points for dialysis. My goal for this paper is to let people know how important it is to be ready and not have it turn into an emergency situation. I will 'interview' my mom and my husband's niece's father-in-law. Both have different access and one is pre-dialysis and Vin is doing in-center hemo.
See you around the boards!

It is not uncommon for the GFR to fluctuate. It could stay there for a long time, God willing. Is she feeling alright?

Oh Odat I am so happy to hear your Mom is doing so well. Hope her knee replacement
goes well. I know you feel relieved that things are finally calming down. Tell her she is still
in my prayers.
Love, Mimi

Thank you so much for your prayers! Sluff, mom is feeling okay, not nauseous or anything. The only thing we see is she is taking more naps - may be for 20 min but she does it a few times a day. She is just getting over a cold. She also seems to be forgetting things pretty quickly - almost like short-term memory loss. We'll tell her what the next day plans are and she'll ask a few hours later what she is doing tomorrow. She also repeats herself, but that's actually been happening for a few years. I think that's because she talks to so many people that she forgets who she told. We used to let her tell it again, but lately we say 'mom you told me.' She'll say 'i did?!'
Her graft is buzzing away and she doesn't even know it's there.
