Kidney patients show off art

Published Date: 19 January 2009

PATIENTS who took up drawing and painting while undergoing kidney dialysis will be displaying their work at an exhibition.
The group from the Dialysis Unit at the Royal Infirmary are showcasing their talents at the hospital's Pelican Gallery.

The charity Artlink organised workshops in drawing, watercolours and jewellery-making to engage patients during treatment. Artists Fiona Jardine and Annabel Bartle worked with them to explore their interests.

One of the patients, Linda Davie, said: "It has given me ideas for doing my pictures and made me want to take it more seriously. It also helps pass the time at night while I am on the machine."

A free opening event will be held on Tuesday, January 27 between 12.30pm and 2pm.
