It was a miracle that the ferry boats were right there.

I guess the server is very busy because it doesn't play after the ad is done. . . ?
-
I can't get it to play either. I'll check it later. :thx;

Friggin WOW amazing
-
It won't play for me either

I finally got it to play, and that is the most amazing bit of airmanship that I've ever seen. If I didn't know it was an airliner, I would have sworn that it was a seaplane landing. That is one freaking amazing pilot.

Not sure it's me, but the video playsin slow burst. I don't see the plane landing in the video though, but see how fast the ferry goes into action. The video shown over the news though shows more clearly the plane landing in the water.

My husband has been with USAirways for his entire career. He knows one of the flight attendants. The pilots deserve all the praise they get. They saved not only the passengers, but maybe hundreds on the ground. The pilot also flies gliders as a hobby; which is interesting since he basically flew the plane like a glider. He did everything picture perfect. The entire crew is very senior; flight attendants are in their 50's. There has to be something said about experience. It is amazing that everyone got out. It is nice to have heroes in a time when we only hear bad news. Proud to be part of the USAirways family :thumbup;
The ferry boat pilots are heroes also. Their quick actions saved lives. Lots of people deserve keys to the city! :2thumbsup;

If you look very carefully around 2:30 or something around there you will see a line of spray in the middle of the river at the left hand side of the frame... thats the landing

That is an incredible piece of film. It's incredible that the pilot landed the plane safely. It's also incredible that folks are already making their way onto the wings and rafts by the time the camera is moved in for the close-up. If I've got it right, we're talking something like 45 seconds or less. And those ferry captains are amazing too. The tide is ripping and they obviously know how to maneuver those ferries. Experience and training do matter!

Completely amazing. That landing looked like it was meant to be put down right there on the river. That's how perfect it was.The pilot is a hero.
-
Amazing Pilot.... I want him flying all planes I am on. :clap;
-
He landed it like a seaplane, putting the tail down first and slowly letting the rest come down into the water all without power (hence the glider training). They should teach more of this mergency landings if they don't already.

Not too often things work out as well as they did in this situation. :thumbup;
