Title: we have to let Sad Sack go
Post by: twirl on January 16, 2009, 02:59:45 AM
our Sad Sack needs to be put down this morning -- she is 14 or 15 years old and she made it during one last Christmas home with Bubba- Bubba will be going back to college after we go to the vet today - she was okay until yesterday and everything changed - Bubba was up talking to her all night last night and this moring I am comforting her and she is loving it -- but it is time to let her go ----- I am changing my dialysis treatment to tomorrow, if they let me and if they don't ---- screw it---- I'm going to be with Bubba and Sad Sack  -- cheryl

Sorry to hear about Sad Sack Twirl. It is a hard decision to make, but it is in the best interest of Sad Sacks comfort and quality of life. As for dialysis, if they can't reschedule you, screw them. Family is more important.

Twirl, I am so sorry!  I know how much you love Sad Sack and how much she means to you and to Bubba.

I also know that you gave her as much love and caring as a person can, and she had a very good life.

It is such a hard thing to do.  I will be thinking about you.   :cuddle;

:grouphug; Oh Cheryl, Your are making one of the hardest decisions when it comes to our beloved pets. It is so hard when you are watching them suffer. Please know that I am there with you in spirit and will be hugging you, Bubba and Sad Sack. I'm sitting here in tears just thinking about it.  :'( Remember all the wonderful memories you will have.  :cuddle;

So, so sorry to read about Sad Sack, Twirl  :cuddle;

No matter how many times we tell ourselves it is the best
decision, it is still the hardest thing one can do when it comes
to our beloved pets.  Sending all of you gentle hugs,

Twirl - I am so so sorry about about Sad Sack  :(.  It's so hard to let our fur babies go.  I agree, you need to be with your son and Sad Sack today.  It's been almost a year since my baby Skye passed on and I was so glad I was with her when she went.

My love and thoughts are with you today.   :cuddle;

I'm thinking of you Cheryl - this is the only thing I don't like about pets. I suppose they're trying to teach us one last thing but it is just awful to have to go through - remember all the good years. RIP Sad Sack

:-(

Sorry Twirl  :cuddle;

At times like this life is tough.  But we realize that you are doing the right thing.  Much bettter like this then to watch our pets suffer in front of us.  Even our pets realize when it is time to leave us.  And i think they feel just as sad as we do.  We can get mad at our pets.  But i have never seen a loved pet get mad at there owners.  Pets are so loyal and loving.  This is why we take them to the vet for a painless release.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry Twirl!
I thought we were going to have to put our dog down last week..she was in so much pain for a few days.  But it turns out sometime in her life she fractured her pelvis in atleast 2 places.  Nothing our vet can do..she's 8 years old, so we just give her pain meds when she needs it!

Twirl, I remember you telling me you were wondering how much time you had with Sad Sack when my dog died in October.  I am glad Bubba had one more Christmas with his dog.  I am so sorry.  You did the right thing, but it isn't easy.   I hope Sad Sack and my Styx are running around chasing each other and having a great time.  Sending you love   :cuddle;

Twirl I am SO sorry to read this, it's a horrible feeling of loss isn't it.  I had to take mum & Dad's cat to be put down on new year's eve so I can empathize - he was at least 18 as they'd had him that long and he was a grown cat when he turned up on the doorstep!  I feel for you in your loss and I'm sending love and hugs across the ocean  :cuddle;  :cuddle;
