Hi,
Thanks for the welcome. I am a dialysis social worker (14 years both hemodialysis and PD). I ran across your site while looking for other internet resources to pass on to patients. I thought I should register since I was enjoying reading the posts. I have utmost respect for my patients, enjoy my job.....this site was informative and refreshing to me. It has touched me to see that this could be real supportive community for those of us in the renal world. Keep up the good work caring about each other and offering help. You all going through kidney disease are the real experts...

:welcomesign; Jane. I hope you'll let your clients know about this site and encourage them to join too. I was a social worker, doing individual, family and group therapy with adolescents and their families (also within the court and school systems) for my second career. This is a great support for us and I would love to have had it available to me when I first went on D in 1980, before having a transplant. Post often and chime in wherever, whenever. We can't so much close our eyes and pretend we don't see you here on the forum board. LOL. :waving;

Hello Jane, :welcomesign;

G'day Jane and welcome! As the son of a former Chief Social Worker for a large hospital here I definitely apprieciate your input! I also apprieciate that you want to find useful resources and communities for your patients. Often so many want to dismiss the internet as the harbinger or incorrrect and harmful information, and clearly if you go looking in the wrong place and take stuff you read out of context and without your own medical advice then bad things may occur, but you've certainly discovered that IHD is a valuable community and potentially good for your patients. So often renal social workers get a bum rap, and sadly it's often deserved when some fail to be of much help etc but clearly you're not one of those!
Welcome! :welcomesign;

Welcome to our community, Jane! So glad that you found us! Our founder wanted this to be a place where everyone connected to this renal challenge has a chance to express themselves. You are an important part of our network and I appreciate your understanding what this site is all about. In fact, this is more than a site now. It is a genuine family. :grouphug; And you are part of the family now. This has been an important weapon for many of us in our fight. So please give us your :twocents;
