Title: Hello all
Post by: Budman on August 26, 2006, 02:35:37 PM: Hi my name is Robert and I just recently found out about this site through a friend. I thought I would come here and see what it was all about! Well my story is simple, I was diagnosed with Alports Syndrome at the age of 2, for those of you who don't know what that is, it's basically a constant degeneration of your kidneys. My kidneys failed just after my 18th birthday September 25th 2004 and I have been on in center hemo dialysis ever since. I am currently awaiting a transplant and have been on the list for a year and a half. I have always been in search of a dialysis community where I can share my thoughts and views with people who live with and around MY situation...I look forward to talking with you!

Me and Shades also have Alports so that makes 4 (including Python) of us! I only found out recently at the age of 34 and have been dialyzing for 2 months now. Welcome to our little community and I hope you find it useful.

Post by: Python on August 27, 2006, 05:44:58 AM: Hi Budman. As Matty said, my son and I have Alports too. Son is on dialysis (has been since he was 15), I'm not - my kidneys seem to be holding up so far. Since we joined this site we don't feel so lonely any more as Alports is comparatively rare.
