I am starting to get a bit worried. I have had my period for what seems like forever, and I was reading where sometimes the medication you get for Anemia can cause prolonged periods. I also am getting my Depo-Provera shot today and am wondering if since I am due for it maybe this is why I am still bleeding? I guess I am worried that it could be something else as well.

my guess is that it is related to the hormones, but ask them when you go for shot today. :cuddle;

Is your Hemoglobin high? Could be that, could be Heparin dose. Ask them to cut down your Heparin if you are on your period. That should take care of it.

I had the same problem. I wouldn't have a cycle for 8 months and then one would come out of nowhere, be horribly heavy, and last upt o 3 weeks. They cut my heprin down a few times and it helped a bit with the heaviness.

I was 45 and they put me on Norethindrone 0.35mg (Jolivette) a birth control pill that just basically stopped my periods. I take one everyday and never stop taking them. It worked until I started binders and then I had to start taking 2 a day. I think the binders did just that.... bound them with the other phos and they just weren't as affective. Now that I'm not taking as many binders I went back to 1 pill a day. I just did that on my own as a test. ;)
