I have been recently diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. I am a 55 year young female school teacher with diabetes and hypertension. I got my fistula put in two days ago. My father died of kidney failure at 89 (he was never dialysed. In my home country they don't put 'old' people on dialysis). My brother was on dialysis from age 51 to 61 and died from a heart attack last November.
I was just doing a search to find out about uremic symptoms which I don't have as yet, and I came upon Nephron, didn't find much action but found out about this message board. The truth is, I just want the truth. That I can handle. I am hoping that you guys will be able to help me.
I am a Christian and this has helped me handle a new and difficult situation.

i forgot to say where I am from. I am originally from the island country of Barbados (southern Caribbean) but I have been living in the Virgin Islands for the last 8 years.

Welcome, welcome, welcome. I hope you visit us often. Remember this is a site where we tell it like it is. A no holds barred rule. Feel free to rant and rave and let it all out. Since you are new to dialysis you have a long road ahead of you but we will be here for you to comfort you and to help you get through the rough times.

:bump; Bumping one of our moderator's thread, too.

Isn't it funny how much longer the new introduction threads are, than they were when we all joined. What better proof of success. Welcome Aurora to IHD... :rofl;

I'm loving reading all the moderators' intros! Thanks to all the bumping bumpsters. And welcome. Bajanne!

When I was checking out the Introduce Yourself section and saw New To This with my name attached, I did a double take! You guys are just mischevious!!

And Sluff :sluff; is correct - look how far you have all come. Outstanding.
