Title: catheter cover-up
Post by: staceyand joe92 on December 10, 2008, 06:14:10 AM
I have a neck/chest cath. I was very worried that people were staring at the HUGE bandage on my neck/chest so I began to wear scarves and turtlenecks.  My question is : Do you hide your bandage or not?

I do not go out of my way to cover anything up. My comfort comes first!

In the beginning the bandage/tubes made my children nervous.  Now that they are becoming more accustomed to it I have begun to wear whatever I want . I think when I became more comfortable around my family, going out in public wasn't such a big deal anymore.

My graft arm looks like hell so I wear three quarter sleeves a lot.

I always wore what I was comfortable with..that comes first and since hospital in November, I had another tube so now 2 scars that show...oh well.

I did not cover my catheter when I had one.

I do cover my fistula.. for some reason when I have it uncovered it feels weird.. If someone brushes against it I get the heebee jeebees.
