Hi Everyone!
Does anyone have the new" Snappy" computer terminals in their clinics that is SUPPOSED to speed up and eliminate
paperwork for the staff????????????? I'm not impressed. Waiting for a chair is now 1 hour!!!! Give me a break!!! Does
it get any better? What is the error rate?

The same goes for the electronic medical record systems in hospital inpatient settings. There are more mistakes now than ever before and charting takes MUCH longer than before. The nurses spend more time 'nursing' the computers than the patients.

You know, I've found that to be true that they are spending way more time screwing with the computer then when they just looked at the machine screen and logged the info on their run sheet. And then when no activity for 10 minutes, they get logged out and the screaming begins. Quite funny actually. ;D

"Chairside Snappy" is a "DaVita" take on the old Gambro BAC system. Once the staff get use to it, there is no doubt it will speed up your treatment. Give it a chance, I think you will like it. Oh, and another thing, it keeps staff from fudging vital signs that they may have missed. Everything is time stamped, so you can't just hand write a vital sign an hour after it was suppose to be taken.

At least you will be able to "read" your run sheet. I swear! I had to take my last 3 run sheets to the dialysis unit in Seattle when I traveled up there for a family reunion. I was embarrassed! No one could read it because it was so sloppy.

Soon Fresenius will have a system like this as a standard in all clinics. All the existing clinics are being retrofit with them and all new builds will come with them already installed. It gets rid of the human error and "fudging" issues to provide truer and more accurate patient treatment results.

My clinic is just ramping up the Chairside Snappy program. I think they go live in two weeks.

What is a snappy computer?

Its not a snappy "computer", its a Snappy computer program. It records all vitals and manages the distribution of medications during dialysis. Gambro had the system originally and it was called BAC. When DaVita bought us, they had to put some stupid name to it with a cartoon character.
It honestly is a good system.
I can't get my popup blocker to go off so I can't do a spellcheck. I hope its okay.

Well guys, ChairSideSnappy has been around for quite a while, and I am curious about your experiences since it was implemented. Did it help? Did it hurt?
I know that there have been ups and downs and the development team just recently corrected a major problem that was causing headaches for staff, but all in all do you think this system has made a difference in the clinics that had been charting on paper?

Here is one patient's answer:
So the new snappy computer system has come in. Did it change my treatment? Not really. It just puts the tech onto a computer when they could be talking to me or taking care of me. It also pulls another tech off of their stations to cosign for my tech after I am put on the machine. It did nothing spectacular for me at all. Just got me ignored some more while the techs and nurses nursemaid a system that keeps going down on them, then back to the old paper charting. It does make it easy for the docs to see a progression of something, if they take the time to look for it. But since they are using the paper charts anyway who cares.
