I know this probably isn't the proper forum but probably the most read one.
Those of you who remember me and my son Ian (Shades) know that he's been on dialysis coming up for 7 years since he was 15 years old.
He got his transplant today.
My brother gave Ian one of his kidneys. The op was originally scheduled for 20th November but had to be cancelled because Ian went down with the cold. It was rescheduled for 4th December but was cancelled at the last minute due to an emergency transplant having to take precedence. It finally happened today. Ian came back on the ward about 9.30pm (UK time) and was completely out of it. My brother, David was already back and despite a fair bit of pain and a little bit sick from the anaesthetic, was sitting there grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Hopefully Ian will be feeling a little better tomorrow.
I can not find words adequate to describe how wonderful and how very loved my brother is. He's simply the best brother and Uncle in the universe :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup;

Not only did the transplant happen but my daughter in Scotland made me a grandma again. While the transplant ops were going on, she gave birth to a 6lb 12oz baby boy :bandance;
I wonder what the odds are on that happening.
Son and Uncle having operations and at the same time daughter is giving birth :2thumbsup;
Three members of my family in hospital at the same time and FOUR will come out :cheer:

What a very exciting post. I'm so thrilled that Ian got a new kidney from his uncle today and also that all went well with the birth. Now we'll keep all fingers crossed for a long and healthy transplant for Ian. Mine lasted 23+ years and was such a blessing. I hope to have a second (from my sister-in-law) in the new year.
