Hello everyone.  I am new to this website.  I heard about it from one of my customers and think it's a much needed site.  I do not have CKD but I have been working in the dialysis community for about 5 years now.  I am amazed at how little is known about CKD and dialysis by the general population.  Everyone in the world has heard of Mad Cow disease when there were just a few cases ever reported and yet we have over 400,000 dialysis patients in the US and very few people understand what dialysis is, what impact it has on the lives of our patients and what can be done to help educate everyone about the risk factors for developing CKD.  How can we translate a site like this that targets the dialysis community into an effort to educate the masses?  For now, we can all talk to everyone we know to get them thinking about CKD and it's most prominent precursors, hypertension and diabetes.

Welcome to IHD. so glad you joined us. We try every day to let people know about CKD one way is to let them know about IHD. Hope you tell everybody and welcome again

Welcome to our community!  We do share your feelings here - there is lots of misinformation concerning this very serious problem of renal failure.  We like to think that we are doing our bit by our promotion of this website where the buzz word is "Information is Power!" 
You told us that you work in the dialysis community, but you didn't specify.  We like it when workers join us, in fact when anyone joins us, because then we feel they get to see somethings from the perspective of the patients.
The site has become a real family  :grouphug; and we welcome you among us.  There is lots to read here, lots of information, lots of questions to be answered.  So keep posting.
