I am a private person and don't want to reveal too much.
I am being trained now for CAPD but will be on APD pretty soon hopefully.
I had kidney problem for about 9 years and so finally, with about 16% kidney function left, my doctor suggested me to go on dialysis.
I enjoy working and will continue to work.
The only problem I am seeing now is my wife loves to travel and I probably won't be able to do much.
Thanks for providing a forum to support/share the experience.

Welcome theone, good to have you aboard.

:welcomesign; You can reveal only as much as you are comfortable with. I know what you mean about the traveling. However, we have some members who still manage to travel (of course it's different than "before" D...) and capd means you can still do mini trips at least and maybe more.

:welcomesign; theone. You'll open up when you have been around here a while. Impossible not too. Lots of information and support for what you are going through by folks that have gone through it or caregivers. Please post often. :cuddle;

Welcome aboard. Traveling is no problem once you get settled on PD. I've been on cruises, trains, buses, etc. I just call Baxter and tell them where I'm going and they have my boxes waiting for me. If it's a short trip, you can just take your boxes and supplies with you. Good luck in your new venture and getting to travel!

Welcome theone. I'm also on PD and I use a Fresenius cycler and suppies. Like Peleroja, I've also been able to travel quite a bit. I just let my PD nurse know when and where I'll need a machine and supplies delivered and she places the order with Fresenius. I haven't traveled outside of the US but my husband and I will be leaving later this month for our 4th trip this year. PD hasn't slowed us down in this respect. I hope all goes well with you and know you will find lots of useful information here at IHD.

Welcome to our community! We are so glad that you joined us. First off, I have to admit. I don't know what APD is. Please clarify. You see, the only option in my area (British Virgin Islands, Caribbean) is in-centre HD and I have heard of CAPD on this site, but not APD.
This is a great site for information, support and even a bit of fun. Please take advantage of all it has to offer.
My wanderlust has been cut a bit by the need to dialyse, but I have become a weekend traveller. I even managed to have a fantastic weekend in Las Vegas at our last IHD reunion!
so please keep reading, and keep posting, so we can know how you are doing (even if you are a private person)
