Hi,
I am not actually yet on the list, but hopefully very soon...
I am 36 years old man originally from Finland, but currently living in Texas. I have had CKD whole my life and the disease has progressed very slowly. However now I am getting closer to the time when I will need replacement therapy. I am not yet in dialysis and started the process to get to transplant list in July and have been going through all evaluation tests during last 2 weeks. I am hoping everything would go smoothlyand I would be able to skip the dialysis phase totally, let's see what happens...
I have read the discussions on this forum already some weeks and now I decided to register as well.

Waitlisted....hummm you are not on dialysis yet......you are not on the transplant list yet......Why don't we just call you "Transplanted" ;D Let's hope so anyway!
Welcome to the site. If you haven't done so already, please read the Site Rules and Regulations under General Discussion.
In my experience it would be better if you suffered through dialysis a couple of times so you TRULY appreciate your transplant. Best of luck to you.

Good luck on the transplant. If you are going to be listed and do not have a living donor the wait time is 6 to 8 years average. If a living donor is going to give you a kidney 6 months to a year is the wait time. Good luck!

Hopefully everything will go smoothly.
Welcome to the board.

Great to have you here!

Just an update, now I should have gone through all evaluation test and after the committee meeting I should be able to start my long wait...
I am with O blood, so the average waiting time on this area is about 5 years, so I should surely still get my share of suffering in dialysis like Rerun wished, if I don't find matching living donor earlier.

You can always move to Tampa, Florida.
Because the state has no helmet law, and with highway speeds up to 75 miles per hour ... your wait might be half what the wait is in Texas. :o
-
Welcome waitlisted, good luck with your wait, hope it isnt too long.

It's not the helmet law it's the way they drive in FL.
