I have been reading here for quite some time now and figured it was time to introduce myself. I am 5e0 years old and live in Wasington state. I was diaginosed with diabetes thirty five years ago. I had a hard time dealing with it and often did not control my diet as well as I should have. I have been paying for that the last ten years. Foot amputation, nerve damage, partial blindness, heart problems, and for the last year kidney dialysis. Lastr May I went into cardiac arrest while at dialysis. My dialysis unit is in a hospital so I was quickly revived and outfitted with a defibrilator/pacemaker. It stills scares me to think what could have happened if I had been driving home when it happened. Anyway I am determined not to let a lack of knowldege hurt my health again so I come here to learn what others do to cope. Be talking to all of you later.
:thx;

Welcome to our community! I like it when people who have looked around for a while introduce themselves. It means I don't have to sell you on our site! A lot of us are like you and can say sadly "If only I understood then, what I know now!!" where control of diabetes and/or hypertension are concerned. Anyway, we have been given a second chance. And this site is quite a place to assist us in doing the best we can to manage our present health situation. We are more than a forum, we are a family :grouphug; caring and sharing. So keep reading and keep posting.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am a caregiver to my predialysis mother. She has a graft but numbers are still good. She is also diabetic and keeping her blood sugar low these last few weeks has been a challenge. She used to be low! Very hard to manage diabeties. I pray you will maintain your health now. Lots of information and support on this site.
