Our dear girl Vandie called last night - admitted to the hospital for testing - she was concerned about doing a CT scan with dye - due to the risk of possible damage to her new kidney - but thankfully they were able to do it "dry." She has been diagnosed with gall stones. Apprently very painful so they have her on plenty of pain meds. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. More info to follow. Please keep her in light and love.

Her surgery was scheduled for 7:30 am, but we know how that can go. Hopefully she's in recovery and getting some good rest.

Vandie has some soreness, but she is now home and recovering.

Vandie - glad to hear you are home and on the mend. I've also been there - done that - unfortunately the hard way with the gall bladder. but it will bring peace to eating for you.

Thank you everyone. I love you guys!
I came home yesterday afternoon. The hospital is not a place to stay when you want rest. I've been sleeping better and the pain is slightly less. I have to be off work through next week, so I have plenty of time to mend. Thank you again for all of your good wishes. Another reason I love this place so much.

My gallbladder was necrotic, so I had a ot of infection floating around. The pain went from just under my right ribs to just above my precious kidney. They did a really good rinse and put me on a boatload of antibiotics to get rid of it. They did, however, leave a drain in for a week postsurgery. It was causing a lot of discomfort. The surgeon took that out on Wednesday and as of this morning, I am walking a little straighter and finally feel like I can function.
The first person my surgeon called was my neph. My neph came to see me and asked if I was sure it was the gallbladder or was my pain caused by the fact that a democrat will sit in the white house. (I hope you are all laughing.)
My surgeon was right on board with me; whatever we have to do to save my kidney, we will do it. If laporoscopically didn't work because the infection was too near the kidney, he would have gone in on the side. I told him, a bigger scar I can handle, a damaged kidney, I cannot. He was great. This was the first experience where all of the doctors knew their kidney stuff; from the ER doc to the surgeon.
Thank you again, everyone. I will be able to drive and go back to work on Monday.
