I almost made it a week back on PD, but my peritoneum has started leaking again, and I have an exit site infection. My doctor wants to remove the catheter and have me stay on NxStage. My nurse wants me to have a consultation with the surgeon who put the catheter in and fixed the hernia that I had before we have the catheter taken out. He may have another idea on how to resolve the problem. I'm starting to literally expect bad things to happen to me because they always happen with me.

Sorry to hear about the string of problems Adam. Hopefully PD will still work out for you.
-
Adam, I'm sorry that PD isn't working for you right now. Maybe the doctor can come up with something to help out. Please let us know. :cuddle;

Sorry to hear about the difficulties with PD, Adam. I know it must be very frustrating. :stressed;
At least you have the NxStage option, so you don't have to do in-center dialysis.
Here's hoping that PD will work eventually. Keep us updated.

Sorry Adam - I know you wanted to be on PD - hope that works out for you eventually. Hope you didn't have lot of pain...

So sorry things didn't work out. Whatever the outcomes, please keep your spirits up. sometimes that is all we have! :cuddle;

What a shame Adam. We know how much you wanted PD to work for you. I'll be interested in hearing what that surgeon has to say about it. :cuddle;

Adam, I am so sorry to hear of your problems with PD. I too am having a problem right now with a tunnel infection after having a catheter repair. This is my second course of Cipro, to which they have added an intra-peritoneal dosage daily of ceftazidime, hoping to clear it without removal. We are supposed to be going to Texas for the winter and I am terrified they won't be able to fix it. You are not alone. Hang in there. Pd is so much better than in-centre, even if we have to go through all this.

Wow this is sad news Adam.
I am holding out on the phrase where you say the doctor may have another way to resolve this.
we will keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

I am also very sorry to hear of this news. I had a similar experience except the doctors did several tests and tried my tube in other places. They determined that I needed to have surgery to remove a lot of scar tissue which had built up from pd. They removed all of my omentum which was a mistake. Please make sure to speak to the surgeon and get a separate opinion. There are several surgeons who are able to do miraculous things but it is such a territorial profession. Speak up! It is your body and I sincerely believe they will come to a resolution to get you back on PD.
Good Luck to you! ;D
