Hi, wanted to pop in and give an update on mom. She is taking novalog now on a sliding scale. Tests before each meal and takes insulin when 180 and over. The crying is not as soulful. She still does when she is alone and I mean alone... if you are at her house and she goes to the bathroom, you'll hear her cry. She has in-home care for 2 hours, visiting nurse, and physical therapist. Sister and I have been taking turns sleeping at her house until her cast comes off and she can use her arm again. Hopefully it comes off 11/3.
Still haven't changed her primary. Trying to decide if we should go with a geriatric or not. Her hemocratit is more stablized since they stopped the internal bleeding. She got an aranesp shot two weeks ago and her level stayed at 30. Small steps forward...

Well I really enjoyed reading your post about better news with your Mom Odat. I can imagine how relieved you and your sister must be feeling to see an upward trend. :grouphug;

Great news Odat. :thumbup;

That's good news. I take it she is not having a reaction to Novalog like she did when she was given Humalog? If you switch doctors, interview them like you were giving them a job. You mom's care depends on them and if they do not listen to their patients, then they are not a very good doctor. Good Luck ODAT

Thank you all for your well wishes. Mimi, you find the most lovely animations and words that fit every situation.
Mom is doing well on the novalog. One thing we are monitoring is when she tests. Yes, it's before meals, but sometimes her snack is pretty close to lunch. I'm sure that would skew her blood sugar.
She got her cast off on Monday. Sis told mom that this week was the last week her and I would be sleeping at her house. Sis said she took it okay. She asked her what she thought about it and mom said, 'not much I can do about it.' We will still go there this month alternating for dinner time and getting her ready for bed. I start another online class December 1 and told my sis that we'd need to adjust the schedule. Hope she can use her arm by then. She has a brace and lots of exercises.
take care
