Well I have been on Dialysis for almost a year. It started last October (2007) with me feeling sick, having acky joints, and being tired, etc., things just kept getting worse and I finaly went to the doc and the blood tests came back with acute renal failure, by the end of November I end up in the hosp. for 22 days, with a diagnosis of Wageners or Anca associated vasculitus (What the hell is that?)
So, now I do dialysis MWF, I am now sticking myself via a fistula, I had to fight high blood pressure for months until they found the right drug to bring it down (lots of bad headaches) now I am working on getting on the transplant list and maybe doing Home Hemodialysis (If I can find the time/energy to get trained while working full time)
I love the website, the name of it brought me in, that is just how I feel, I know that dialysis is keeping me alive but I HATE it at the same time.

I was obviously off while in the hosp. but then went back and for a month or 2 worked about half days. Now I work about 7 hours on dialysis days and extra on non-dialysis days to make up for the other days. (Does that make sense?)

:welcomesign;. First off, I'm curious about your name? Is it anything to do with the French word vélo for bicycle and a corruption of the French word type for guy...so bicycle guy???
Second of all, congratulations on sticking yourself. Just that little bit of control we can take back. I love not having to wait for a nurse to put me on or take me off plus you're that much more ready for home hemo if you want to try that.

Welcome to our community! I was wondering about that name as well. I thought maybe you are a speed-typer! You found a great place for anyone facing this renal challenge. There is lots of information here, and support and fun as well. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.
You have found another family here. :grouphug;
Looking forward to hearing more from yoiu.

The name is a mix, Velo is for bicycle (I used to race) Typo is for typographical error (I am a typographer), I did not know the french word for guy is typo, I think that is pretty cool!!!

Actually the French for guy is "type" but I thought maybe you'd deformed it to rhyme. Thanks for the explanation VT. Hope you're doing OK these days.
