what a cutie!  does he look like Mom or Dad or both?

and hope that is not a serious injury he has...

6-4 270 wow good size guy does he play left tackle? I hope he takes his injury slow, there will be plenty of time to show his stuff. Pro tackles can have long careers in the NFL but he needs to just listen to the trainers and go slow. Got to put another 30 or so LBS of muscle on him and he is a lock to go in the first round when his time comes. But again one injury if healed properly is OK a number of them are looked at closely wish him the best. Oh and by the way after seeing his picture I will say he is the second most good looking guy. Me being the first  ;D ...Boxman

He is so adorable, in a big guy kind of way of course.  I don't imagine Allen sees himself as "adorable" but I know Twirl that you know what I mean.

It's a shame he can't hold a candle to Boxman but may be he'll get better looking as he grows.   :beer1;  Here's to 2 good lookin guys.

A redshirt year will be good for him. It will  give a chance to mature and add some weight. It doesn't look like the Aggies are going any where this year anyway. You don't see many true freshmen playing on most teams.

Post by: twirl on October 09, 2008, 08:08:51 PM
he does not take his injuries seriously and is afraid that the coaches will think he is a wimp
I would call the coaches but they would think I was Raymond's mom
he likes to eat meat
he is not 270 he is more like 285--- not fat but football looking
he has a swollen knee and he played football today with the starters ?
last year he played three games with three broken bones in his foot
I threw a fit and he went to the doc
the coaches wanted him to play anyways
now, he is a legend at conroe high
when players tell the coaches they are hurt
they tell them to toughen up like Woodum
he went into the locker room last week after the conroe game and got a standing ovation
he was very touched
I am worried that he is not allowing time to heal
he just got over another injury
8 more weeks of football
and it does not look like they will be in any play-off games
he has been in football since July
thanks for your input
you guys are great

Bubba called me to ask me how to fry a piece of bacon
I hope all those Aggie jokes aren't true
so I went to AM while they were at the game I fried and froze 3 lbs of bacon for him
it was too hot for me for that game
and the fans stand up for the whole game and there is no breeze
why do Aggie's stand for the entire game

I hope the weather cools off for you Twirl.  It is raining, damp and chilly here in coastal Virginia today.

You are the greatest mom.  Really, your son is very lucky.

Is he playing again?  Did his injuries heal up?

he is red shirted
which is a good thing so he can play for 5 years instead of 4
his major is for 5 years
my husband and I had major horrible childhoods so we wanted our children to have it better

yes, they do
but he says he does not have time for a girlfriend now
football is almost 24/7
and now he is in a whole school of smart people
he is having to really study for the first time in his life
plus he is learning to cook to save money
he would not buy a meal plan
we are waiting to hear if he is getting anymore money for next semester

Where was O.J. hiding right before the famous white Bronco Chase?
            On the A&M campus, because that's the last place you'll find a football player.

Hehehehehe!   :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

Now don't be mad at me Twirlie Girlie!

well, how can I argue with reason
last week's game Oklahoma beat us by 36 points
we were winning for the first five minutes of the game
I want to tell the coaches to put my son in the game and they will win
but he needs to be red shirted so he can play for 5 years
that is a funny joke
I don't guess OJ will be hiding now
maybe from inmates
A&M is go big, it takes him over 30 minutes to walk from on class to the other
all the cafeterias were located at locations he could not get to without walking a mile out of the way
a lot of the time the football players eat with the team
and Allen will not get up to eat breakfast at 4am
he has to be at football at 5am
I made him lots of food he is taking back
he is on his own
except we pay his rent and I make him food
and we love him to pieces

Title: Re: An Aggie's life

Ground corn with the nutritious parts removed.  Cooked a little thinner than polenta (cornmeal dish) the Italians make.  Have you ever had Cream of Wheat?  Something like that.

Most southerners I know like grits with butter and salt at breakfast alongside eggs and bacon.  My father eats his grits with butter and sugar like Kitkatz.  But really, I hope Twirl will weigh in on this...

We ignore the fact that they are grits, add a little half and half and sweetner, then cover them with honey or syrup... they're edible like that.

Aggie's are students from Texas A & M University
very hard to get in to that college
he is on the football team
we were Texas UT fans until Allen with to A&M

is tripe parts of a goat's tummy
I will send you some grits
do not listen to the silly members who put sweet things in grits
use butter, salt, pepper or cheese or margarine, and jalapenos
I do not use the salt

Title: Re: An Aggie's life
Post by: okarol on November 18, 2008, 09:29:13 AM
Beef tripe is usually made from only the first three chambers of a cow's stomach: the rumen (blanket/flat/smooth tripe), the reticulum (honeycomb and pocket tripe), and the omasum (book/bible/leaf tripe). Abomasum (reed) tripe is seen much less frequently, owing to its glandular tissue content. Tripe is also produced from sheep, goats, pigs, and deer.  :puke;

Tripe is cow (or bull) stomach.  Must be washed carefully before cooking.  In Jamaica they boil it until tender then coat it in bread crumbs and fry it.  I eat it in Chinese Dim Sum restaurants here.  They stew it down with green onions and bits of hot pepper and it is really tender and delicious.  Most importantly, it's not deep fried so the calorie count is good too.  I love it and chicken feet too.  The chicken feet are stewed in a red barbeque type sauce.

I like the taste of ALL foods (an omnivore I call myself) so you might not want to go by what I say, but I miss my regular Dim Sum feasts which I now avoid because of salt.

I think I've already written about my distaste for tripe elsewhere in the pages if IHD  :puke;

Perhaps I will someday come across some that is prepared as Monrein has described and I will try again.  For now though, I put it in the same category as insect larvae.  :puke;

Gimme grits with cheese any day!  :cheer:

Insect larvae???  Hmm, and how would we be preparing those?  Deep fried for crunch perhaps?  How much phosphorus I wonder?   :rofl;
Title: Re: An Aggie's life
Post by: Wallyz on November 19, 2008, 06:09:11 AM
Aggie applies to anyone who attands a college that started as an A&M college, (Agriculture and Mining)  Many Western States started two state land grant colleges, an arts and sciences school and an A&M school.  The A&M schools were seen as more rural and the students were classified as lower social status and therefore "Dumb"

Red eye gravy is pan drippings, coffee,and sugar.  It's often served with Ham. I don't like it.  I prefer a good country sausage gravy.  with Bicuits.

Actually after I thought about it today, I decided they were roasted.  I thought I told the bug (insect larvae, actually) eating story before.  I ate them in Korea as a sign of friendship and respect of my Korean friend.  He grew up right after the Korean War and was very, very poor, but today is a college professor.  They ate bugs when he was growing up because they often had nothing else.  Now it is considered a very special food.  They were mushy and tasted like hay.  I don't think I'll ever eat them again.

I did not  :puke; , but I thought about it.

After the insect adventure, we had dinner at a really cool Buddhist vegetarian restaurant down a winding alley (by the way, I was traveling with my good friend and colleague Iris).  That meal really made up for the insects (plural)...
