Well Friday was susposed to be my last conventional treatment here at home, and last night I was to start nocturnal. As luck would have it, I put my needles is without any trouble as usual and hooked up, but right away I saw that my vein pressure was very high, then I noticed that there was blood leaking from the hole around the needle, which in my books shouldn't be happening. So I tried to adjust my venous needle and sure a sh#$ my vein blew!!! with the pump running at 200, so I swelled very quickly before I was abole to shut the pump off. I called the nurse on call, at home, at 12:30 am and she said to just come off and do a conventioal today and give it another try on Tuesday night. So we will try again. It's justa piss off because I haven't had ANY trouble with my fistula after my first 2 weeks. Wish me luck!! :beer1;

I'm sorry Jay. I hope Tuesday goes a lot better. Take care.

Hope everything goes better next time Jay. probably was just the positioning of the needle. Good luck for next time :cuddle;

Jay aother question Were you using a blunt or a sharp needle??? I would assume a blunt and you are using buttonholes if you are doing nocturnal.
-
Big bummer Jay, but don't let it rattle your confidence. Good luck with your next try. :grouphug;

darn. I bet it will go perfectly well the next time. :thumbup; :thumbup;

OMG - what a scary day! I imaging that hurt like it was infultrated. Sorry to hear, but like others said, don't let that stop you from trying again. Hope it goes smoothly next time!!!

Sorry it's been a week, but Future Shop had to replace our laptop, the old lemon policy. Anyways, the first whole week of nocturnal SUCKED!!! But last week annd most of this week has been trouble free, mostly. I am still using sharp needles so I am sleeping pretty lightly, but either nextweek or the week after they are going to come and add the second pump to my machine and then I will go to single needle. I am pretty sure I had figured out what the initial problems were. First night when my vein blew (infiltrated) yes it hurt like hell, I was having a bit of postion trouble withe the needle so I tried to flip it and that must have aggitated it enough to make it burst. Then the other problems of alarms for arterial or venous pressure were du to me going way too dry too fast. So I raised my dry weight by 1 kg to 75 and it has been much better. I will keep knocking away at it but it is hard because I started school yesterday and I really need to get a good nights sleep. Wish me luck!

all the luck in the world to you :flower;

Wishing you lots of luck Jaybird. Are the single needles, the softer, more flexible ones?
-
Nope, they are steel, the flexible one have an insert like an IV needle and are very hard to put in with one hand.
