I have asked and been asked what life expectancy is without dialysis.  Can anyone giver me an answer that is not of the evasive type

I sent you a PM but I will also post the information here.
Depending on how much kidney function the patient has helps determine the life expectancy. If it is below 10% and requiring dialysis, it can be 3 days to 3 weeks.

My dad lived 7 days after complete sudden failure.

I'm sure it varies depending on more than GFR (percent function). I just started dialysis as I finally started having enough problems to really interfere with my day-to-day life. My GFR has been 8% and decreasing since I was diagnosed last March, but with the nature of my failure I was still passing plenty of urine - it just wasn't concentrated enough. Dialysis didn't become really necessary until my creatinine passed 18.

but  i'd  guess  2  to  3  weeks

It varies....Art Buchwald lived for almost a year after he stopped dialysis and checked into a hospice.
