Received notice to return to my Transplant hospital for my second of many workups so I may be placed on the list.I received my appointment schedule by mail listing the procedure to be done and what floor and time to be there. I arrive at 9:00 am 4th floor for Labs, 10:00 am 2and floor Radiology for a Chest Xray, 10:30 2and floor Radiology for a Ultrasound of the Abdomen. It was during the procedure the Tech doing the scan said, after seeing my PD site bandage and tape, Oh you already have a Cath! I replied yes, then she said your next test will be a breeze. So I asked her what it was and heard her say a V C U G, OK what is a VCUG, I asked her, she replied it is where we just insert a cath and run some test for Reflux and Bladder Capacity and Volume. I asked were was this cath going and she said, you know, you won't have any problems because you already have a cath? I said not to my bladder I don't. She said you will in about 30 minutes or more. So I go down the hall and the Tech, was waiting on me and asked me to lay on the table, I told her that there was a problem, the table didn't have tie down straps and please be gentle, as I have never had a Cath before or at least awake if they did. I had logged on many times to ask IHD members if they had ever heard of the VCUG test and if so what was it.Next time I will ask

Jenna had that test and it was very uncomfortable. They blew her bladder up to maximum volume! They wanted to be sure that the bladder augmentation surgery that she got (to increase bladder volume, thereby reducing bladder pressure) had actually worked. (High pressure was what damaged her native kidneys.)
