Monday I got to D on time
they were 30 minutes late hooking me up b/c the nurse was new at placing people on
so it took her a long time
that's fine and I understand that will happen
any other day it would have been okay, I guess
Monday I have to be at the doc with Stasie at a certain time, as you know, she is having a problem pregnancy and she was bleeding
so I took the nurse I had to be off at 10 and I told her why
well, she gets the AMA and it states the reason is that patient requested to get off early
well, I wanted the real reason and why
Davita said when it is their fault and the patient still has to leave on time they just write that the patient requested to get off early
and I said that I wanted exactly what happened on the AMA
they did not like it; but I wrote it
I was nice and all but insisted on writing what happened
I will not get bone bucks
little do I care
but I give them to a lady at D who is saving them so she can get her son something
that is the only part that pisses me off
it was their fault and I had a family problem to take care of
Stasie is fine but she has to be very careful
any day now ---- and the baby's kidneys are still an issue

I wonder if those who refuse dialysis have to sign an AMA? Its good you stated the real reason though, even if Davita staff did not like it.
-
sorry for the ignorance,what is AMA.
i do 4.5 hr runs at d,
when i've had a gutful,usually 5-10 minutes left, i just tell my nurse"lets get the circus on the road and thats there cue for me to get off,they don't write anything down that i got off early,nobody needs to know.

sorry for the ignorance,what is AMA.
AMA = Against Medical Advice
Its a way to get Doctors off the hook incase something bad happens to you (death, ect)
-
Good for you, Twirl! If you don't write the real reason on the AMA, anyone else looking at it will just think you wanted off early. Now there is a record that it was due to other reasons. I am so proud of you for standing up for yourself! :2thumbsup;

What a crazy system.

I wrote across AMA forms the reasons I was off dialysis early. I have been known to snarl at the tech who asks me if I will sign one. I made one nurse mad when I wrote all over the AMA form. I told him I would be damned if I was going to have the form entered the way it was written.

Twirl,
sorry for my ignorance but what did you mean in the above quote? A lady is trying to get her son a what? Thanks for taking the time to explain things to me. :clap;

At my clinic we have to sign if we still have 15 minutes or more of treatment. It's great you insisted on writing down the reason. It was not your fault THEY got you on late. Sometimes people dont want to take responsibility for thier mistakes.
One time one of the nurses wanted me to sign something dated 6 months before I told her no, rewrite all the info for today, go over it with me and i'll sign it, if not I won't. I told her I can't remember 6 months back you should have done your job and had the paperwork signed when you were suppose to.
Speaking up is important its YOUR LIFE in thier hands.

i refuse to sign almost everything the clinic wants signed. it has to be correct, up to date and something they legitimately need. as an example my clinic was owned by renal care originally. it took fresenisus over a year to change the paperwork so it didn't read renal care. and one of the social workers was gone for 6 months before they put the new gals name on things, and i think they only changed things because i made a stink and took my complaint all the way up. however my point is, anything you sign is a legal document. you can bet the farm if something happened and they got sued the first thing they would do is drag out everything you have ever signed and say "see you agreed to this" never sign anything that isn't absolutely correct.

TynyWonder
we get bone bucks at our clinic for being good and getting good lab reports
I hardly ever get any
but when I do I give them to another patient b/c she likes to get things for her son, they are not having an easy time of it
trade bone bucks for rewards---- you know, like elementary or like the bad behavior classes
I will not get any for this month for leaving before 4 hours was over b/c the nurse took at least 30 minutes after I sat down in the chair
I had to get off at 10, I had to get to my daughter and I told D all about it
-
Oh, wow Twirl! I never heard of "bone bucks". What all can a person get with bone bucks? Sorry for all the questions but just trying to learn is all. Thanks!
-
I'm a teacher--- questions are my thing
fake dollar bills shaped like dog bones
we can trade so many for pens, paper, a glass with Davita on it (oh, I really want that)
just inexpensive things- there are some more expensive things that a child or teen might want
my friend is trying to get some little ear radio thing for her son
they are having desparate problems
so I give her mine
you must have never been in the bad behavior classes :rofl;
oh yes, and you can get the hand held stress balls to squeeze
a positive behavior reinforcement
I'd say

I took Marvin out of a hospital in Wilmington, NC, years ago AMA. Their "treatment" plan was absolutely illogical, and when I started asking questions, they refused to answer any of them or even talk to me. They wanted me to sign something when I said, "We're leaving AMA," and I told them they must be f&**-ing crazy. I helped him get his clothes and shoes on, and away we went. That was the day we started going to Duke (in Durham, three hours away). I have never taken Marvin back to that hospital -- and never will.

:thx; :waving; Twirl!

I have been known to write lengthy dissertations on AMA forms. I love to make dialysis fun for everyone involved.

Flip, your humor just cracks me up :rofl;
