That is wonderful! It must feel good to be getting back into a "normal" routine. :clap; Does this mean you get to buy new work clothes? :rofl;

Congratulations! I hope to find something once I'm back on track, as well. I'm not sure if I want to try to get back into the "corporate" world or just get a fun job with no real stress?
Again, Contratulations! :bestwishes;

Thanks everyone! You know, for the last 15 years I have worked with special needs kids... 13 years as a sign language interpreter then the last 2 I worked with PPCD (3, 4 and 5 year old special needs kids) I'm not sure what PPCD stands for, but we used to joke that it meant Pee, Poop, Cry, and Destroy... LOL. Anyways, I didn't want to chance going back to work with those little ones because they were pretty dangerous... I have been bit, spit on, peed on, pooped on, thrown up on.... and so on. Sooo... I have been kinda picky about what job I would accept. This job seems really interesting to me. I am one of those rare few who loves paperwork.... and this will have alot of paperwork for sure. This is perfect for me because I will not be interacting with the public. WSC does personal loans. I will be taking the reports and checking them for fraud. That is just one of the things I will be doing. Anyways... like many of you said... I officially feel like life is getting back to normal :yahoo;
Paris... as soon as I was offered the job I went out and bought some new clothes :flower;

F.Y.I. when you do the paperwork for new employee, be sure to sign up for the short term, long term disability and 20% rider when offered....I'm so glad I did when I wen t to work for AT&T. you had to be an employee for 6 months for it to become effective, I lasted 8 months. now I get a 50% long term disability check AND the 20% extra, so I get 70% of my paycheck till I turn 65.. that is in addition to social security disability benefits. :bandance;

How was your first day? :)
-
Way to go girl! So happy for you! :cheer:
-
How was it? Hope it was great! :flower;

Thanks for all the support!!
Well, my first day went very quickly. There is ALOT to learn... kinda overwhelming..... but I like it!!! I actually worked an hour and 20 minutes overtime today :) I told the HR lady that I have to go to a diabetes class tmr from 12:30 - 4:30 so I am trying to make those hours up. I was going to cancel going to the class but the HR lady was okay with it and I reeealy think I need it.
They didn't offer any disability... I don't know if it will be offered later or not... if so, I for sure will be signing up! I will get health insurance after 90 days. They match my 401K at 50% up to 6%. I have sick days, 1 personal day and vacation days.
-
This is fantastic news.... what a wonderful thing to happen and so quickly. Hope all goes well for you and you like what you do, cuz that is so important!! Good luck :cheer:

Me too. I hope when I get a kidney, I get a job too.
-
How about an update Donnia? How is the job going, keeping busy I assume.
-
I have been so dang busy!!! You see, I have switched jobs. I now work for my county. Benefits are great!!!!! I started there on 10-14-08. I will get benefits after 6 months. I earn 6 hours sick leave and 6 hours vacation every month. The best part is.... after I am vested with the county (8 years) then my 15 years with the school will transfer over!
-
That is awesome! Congratulations!! :cheer:
-
Sounds great Donnia and looks good on you. Sounds like the kidney is doing well and that's the best thing of all.
