You all have heard of donating "pull tabs" from soda cans right? for example to the "Ronald McDonald House" for charity or the really old myth of saving "pull tabs" so people can afford Dialysis time. Well get the fact on the real value of pull tabs.
It's really an interesting read. And I thought I would share it with you. The article has been around for a while now but for those who have not seen it you will enjoy it.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
this takes me back at least 20yrs. It was in the news........"collect soda tabs and turn them in to your nearest hospital and get $200 for every gallon of tabs" they were trying to raise money for..........CANCER? no, they would use the tabs to make medical equipment. Man oh man, we were big time soda drinkers at home, so we thought "We can make money saving tabs, of sodas we're gonna drink anyways?????" we thought it was pretty cool. Then, when we got our first gallon (it sure didn't take long) we wondered what hospital would be buying them in our area. Of course that never happened, because shortly after we found out it was one big, hoax.
I think it's pretty funny looking back at it now, but, at the time I was pretty upset that even the news would have a BIG segment on it.

Our dialysis center does get money for the pull tabs, it's not near $200 a gallon jug, but it really helps for those that need a med and don't have the money for it, or those that need to pay a cab to get them to dialysis. I'll have to ask my social worker how much they do get for them, so I can post it here, and I also know that Ronald McDonald houses do sometimes use them cause I used to take mine there, and they had a big house with a slot in the roof on display in the hallway just for people to put their tabs in. I live in Ohio and Cleveland RMH took tabs, but Akron RMH didn't. I hope this helps.

My daughter works for a Ronald McDonald House. The recycling center gives them the full value of a soda can for just the pull tab. It is a valuable source and they incourage everyone to save tabs for them.
